PROVENANCE: John Gorse (1945-2020) of Charleston, SC. A business entrepreneurs, private collectors. A retired as senior vice president for legal and regulatory affairs in 1981. After retirement he focused his efforts on revitalizing the local area and philanthropy. His entrepreneurial drive continually motivated him to privately invest in real estate ventures and many other businesses. In addition to his impressive business acumen, he was a man of artistic pursuits, collecting antiques, porcelains, oriental rugs, and artwork of many different genres. Dimensions: Height: 43 cm, Diam.: 28 cm Chinese Qing Dynasty Qianlong Blue and White Wrapped Flowers Porcelain Amphora Zun Vase. The porcelain potted in large vase shape, thick and tall, abdomen octagonal mid body, tall cylindrical neck, round wide flaring mouth lip, emerge scrolling ruyi flanked on the neck, raised on a short ring foot base with slight concave. Hand painted ornamentations are rendered in clean white color which contrast against blue fine color, depicted of Lotus blossom interspersed scrolling foliage and tendril. A characteristic heaped and piled effect, the under glaze greyish-blue concentrates in certain areas, bubbling through the surface of the glaze and turning a deep blue-black. This inadvertently gave texture, energy, and shading to the design. The Under-base bears a reign mark, a six under glazed blue seal script characters reign mark. Made in The Years Qianlong Reign Period of The Great Qing Dynasty.
