PROVENANCE: From the Collections of Henry Windermere (1932- 2018) Covington, Georgia, served US Army for more than 28 years, retiring as a colonel. His received many military medals. He then became Westminster Services training coordinator and working as a program director for a defense contractor based in Xianggang China. Among his varied interests and passions were collecting Chinese art pieces. Dimensions: (cm): Length: 8 Width: 8 Height: 19 Weight (gram): 602 Chinese Qing Dynasty Period SOLID GOLD and semi precious stones inlaid Buddha. Buddha figure of Shakyamuni in almighty figure. The Buddha face in serene expression flanked by pendulous earlobes, the shisha topped with a knobs. In a formal posture, with one face and two hands he gazes forward with half closed eyes. The hair on the head is piled in a topknot shisha crowned with an ornament and the earlobes are long and pierced. With the two feet crossed in vajra posture, right over left upon a double lotus throne. All sets upon further solid gold double lotus throne emerging the aura-chakra nimbus and mandoria with elaborate reliefs of scrolling tendrils surrounding the body. Sets upon a multi leveled tall pedestal, auspicious archaic mystical beast surrounded by the rays of nimbus light emanate from the pedestal throne. The solid gold contrast against inlaid with semi-precious stones, of red coral, lapis lazuli and turquoise. The Amazing condition with a natural solid gold giving this piece an unforgettable appearance.
