PROVENANCE: John Gorse (1945-2020) of Charleston, SC. A business entrepreneurs, private collectors. A retired as senior vice president for legal and regulatory affairs in 1981. After retirement he focused his efforts on revitalizing the local area and philanthropy. His entrepreneurial drive continually motivated him to privately invest in real estate ventures and many other businesses. In addition to his impressive business acumen, he was a man of artistic pursuits, collecting antiques, porcelains, oriental rugs, and artwork of many different genres. Dimensions: Height: 17 cm, Diam.: 10 cm Chinese Ming Dynasty Xuande Blue & white Floral Ruyi Motif Porcelain Vase. The porcelain potted in reward shape vase, thick, globular lower body, straight tall cylindrical neck, round flaring mouth rim, raised on a short small ring foot base with slight concave. Hand painted ornamentations are rendered in clean white base color which contrast against blue fine color, depicted of Scrolling Ruyi clouds and interlocking tendril, enclosed with double fine blue rings lines. The body is exquisite and closely combined with the glaze which is as bright as glass, makes the ware very beautiful. The round cake-like bottom is well trimmed and well-made. The Neck-base bears a reign mark, a six under glazed blue script characters reign mark. Made in The Years Xuande Reign Period of The Great Ming Dynasty.
