Dimensions: Height: 4.8 cm, Diam.: 25.8 cm Chinese Ming Dynasty Jiajing Sancai Dragon Motif Porcelain Plate. The plate has a broad wide central interior, rounded mouth lip, thick, large, raised on correspondence footed ring base and slight concave. The dish wall is finely carved in clean white base color which contrast against Sancai glazed, depicted of Imperial dragon are borne in floating clouds, flame, above Lishui waves. Sancai meaning three glazes of a low fired lead glaze based style of decorating earthenware pottery regardless of the actual number of colors of the item. Iron giving yellow to brown hues, copper giving green or occasionally brown colors and the rare cobalt for blue. This inadvertently gave texture, energy, and shading to the design. The Under-base bears a reign mark, a six under glazed blue script characters reign mark, enclosed within double fine blue rings lines. Made in The Years Jiajing Reign Period of The Great Ming Dynasty.
