PROVENANCE: John Gorse (1945-2020) of Charleston, SC. A business entrepreneurs, private collectors. A retired as senior vice president for legal and regulatory affairs in 1981. After retirement he focused his efforts on revitalizing the local area and philanthropy. His entrepreneurial drive continually motivated him to privately invest in real estate ventures and many other businesses. In addition to his impressive business acumen, he was a man of artistic pursuits, collecting antiques, porcelains, oriental rugs, and artwork of many different genres. Dimensions: Height: 4.8 cm, Diam.: 13 cm Chinese Ming Dynasty Xuande Blue & white Auspicious Motif Porcelain Bowl. The bowl has an open mouth, rounded lip rim, thick and large, deep arced body, raised with round foot ring and slight concave. Hand painted ornamentations are rendered in clean white base color which contrast against cobalt blue fine color, depicted of flowers bloom interspersed foliage, interlocking tendril, auspicious patten and Ruyi shaped large pendants filled by scrolling clouds, interspersed by floral and fruiting banquets. The glaze is seamless and gives off a beautiful luster, with the colors maintaining excellent vibrancy. The Under-base bears a reign mark, a six under glazed blue script characters reign mark. Made in The Years Xuande Reign Period of The Great Ming Dynasty.
