Ming Dynasty Pair of Monumental 35" Terracotta Tomb Attendants W/Thermoluminecence Report - This stunning find is a monumental pair of Ming Dynasty terracotta tomb attendants. The pleasant faced attendants are dressed in tunics and long gowns with long sleeves, with their hands in front of chest caressing attributes for use in the afterlife. This pair are beautifully glazed in turquoise, blue and cream colors highlighted by original black pigments, a superior feature not often found on these works of art and representative of an important tomb which deserved highest quality pottery votive representations. The heads are dettachable as often seen on the largest figures from this period. Important large-scale sculptures such as these were placed in tombs of the elite and wealthy as significant accompaniment in the after life. These tomb attendants are the most important items found in a tomb. Condition: Superb, completely original and intact with finely preserved glazes and pigments.
