Vietnamese Bleu de Hue Porcelain Bowl W/Five Claw Dragon Chasing Flaming Pearl Design (Has Nguyen Dynasty Thieu Tri Mark) - This white porcelain bowl was made during the Thieu Tri reign (1841-1847) of the Nguyen Dynasty of Vietnam. The bowl has a vibrant, cobalt blue underglaze with a design depicting a five clawed dragon chasing the flaming pearl. The flaming pearl is associated with spiritual energy, wisdom, prosperity, power, or immortality. The dragons have five claws, which suggests that the piece was made for an emperor or someone of nobility. Most "Bleu de Hue" porcelain was ordered by the Vietnamese court by way of diplomatic missions to China, and most was produced in Jingdezhen with special designs and marks. This piece is rare, as it was not made in China, but was actually made domestically in Vietnam, and bears the four character Thieu Tri mark of the Nguyen Dynasty of Vietnam. Measurements: 6.75" in diameter x 3"H.
