Japanese Meiji Period Palace Bronze Baluster Vase Decorated in High Relief W/Crane & Floral Motif *Signed by Yoshida* - This piece is a monumental, palace sized bronze baluster vase from the late Meiji period. The body and neck are decorated with a cast relief continuous scene depicting birds in flight and perching on branches, and the base is decorated with fu dogs and geometrical patterns. The opposite side of the body is cast in relief with a scene of elders in a garden setting, and the vase is finished with stylized head of Garuda (king of birds) for it's handles. This truly is a stunning, museum quality piece, as it is the largest vase of this type that we have found to ever be offered at auction. The bottom of the vase is embossed with stamp characters which read "master Yoshida from Kyoto. Big Japan" Measurements: 45"H x 26"W x 17"D.
