Master of the Rocks School, 1780-1880Of rounded square outline with short cylindrical neck and shallowly-cut wide oval foot, the so-called 'chicken-bone' stone with various areas of darker and paler inclusions that have been cleverly utilized to depict two scholars playing weiqi on a low table below willow with an attendant with staff watching the game, a crane clutching an ingot flying to one narrow side and the reverse with a Daoist pavilion supported on a plume rising from breaking waves and rockwork.2 11/16in (6.8cm) high
