款识：“云间胡文明制”。|说明：云间为当时江苏松江府别称，胡文明是明代万历年间铸铜名匠，善铸铜炉与文具，当时其作品已享有很高声誉，时称“胡炉”。此墨盒造型方正端庄，圆角倭边，浑厚沉稳。盖上刻海水龙纹，四周刻海水纹，原来应该鎏金满布，现已看不清楚。盖倭角边处隐约见有镶嵌银丝。此墨盒制作精良，工艺繁复，堪称文房精品。
