An early Victorian Scottish silver three-piece tea service, comprising a teapot, milk jug and a twin handled sugar bowl, each of lobed circular form with C-scroll handles, the domed teapot hinged cover having tapering tiered octagonal finial, the teapot handle with ivory insulators, the sugar and bowl and milk jug having gilt-washed interiors and applied scrolling top rims, all pieces having bright cut engraved floral scrolling decoration and monogram (CAP?) to one panel each, all on four stylised scrolling feet, maker James McKay (probably V), Edinburgh 1849, teapot h.20.5cm, milk jug h.15cm, sugar bowl dia.20cm (handle tip to handle tip), gross weight 45.7oz; together with a matching silver coffee pot, of lobed baluster form, having finial topped hinged lid, C-scroll handle with ivory insulators, on four stylised scrolling feet, bearing similar decoration and monogram, makers Edward, John & William Barnard, London 1847, h.26.5cm, 28.5oz (4)
