EARLY 20TH CENTURY of slender baluster form, inlaid with decoration showing a winged phoenix bird above a cross, flanking by entwined leafy vines, the underside bearing inscriptions reading Japanese Red Cross Society, 日本赤十字社, a four-character maker's mark, 水林謹製, and a three-character mark. Height 7 in., 17.78 cm.
