One Chinese Han Dynasty (202 BC–220 CE) funerary cocoon jar or vase. Low fired earthenware. A large and well formed example of a stylized cocoon, this example with excellent form and volume. Later models of this form have harder corners and do not have the tradition full cocoon shape but merely the profile. Provenance: Collection of Bruce Dayton & Ruth Stricker Dayton, Minnesota.
