A BRONZE TRIPOD VESSEL AND COVER, DING, HAN DYNASTY China, 202 BC to 220 AD. The compressed globular body raised on three cabriole legs, the shoulder with a pair of upright loop handles above a raised band, the domed cover with three handles in the form of stylized phoenixes. Provenance: From a French private collection. Condition: Ancient wear, casting flaws, signs of weathering and erosion, small losses and possibly minor old fills. The exterior with some cuprite encrustation, the interior with azurite and malachite.
