A 'MORTUARY FIGURE' SERPENTINE PENDANT, HAN DYNASTY China, 202 BC to 220 AD. Carved in the round as a standing man with an official's hat, dressed in long flared robes concealing the body. The eyes, mouth, and long beard are deeply incised. The opaque stone is of a rich, mottled, dark gray and russet tone. Pierced for suspension. Provenance: French private collection.
