A YELLOW-GROUND FAMILLE ROSE 'PEACH' JARDINIERE, DA YA ZHAI, LATE QING DYNASTY China, late 19th to early 20th century. The large bowl is sturdily potted with rounded sides decorated in polychrome enamels with peaches borne on gnarly branches with vines and leaves, further with prunus and lingzhi, all below a multicolor key-fret band and against an Imperial pale yellow ground. The gilt-rimmed oval cartouche with an iron-red mark da ya zhai (Studio of Great Elegance) encircled by two dragons chasing a flaming pearl. Provenance: From a private collection in Scotland, United Kingdom. Condition: Good condition with old wear, shallow surface scratches, extensive traces of use to rim and interior, the colors very strong and fresh. Firing flaws, including some orange burn to base and expected pitting, glaze pooling, and pottery lines.
