拍品形制硕大端秀，内外匀施白釉为地，釉色光润莹亮。盘内以粉彩为饰，口沿环绘锦地开光缠枝花卉纹，开光内饰绶带杂宝纹；盘心墨彩双圈内以粉彩绘五老观太极图，五老聚于庭院之中，观太极手卷，庭中山石环绕，松柏苍翠，空中红日高悬，彩霞升腾，一派恬淡吉瑞情怀，寓意贤主当政，天下太平。五老观画的典故源自《水经注·卷五》记载：“《吕氏春秋》曰：昔帝尧修坛河洛，择良议沈，率舜等升於首山，而遵河渚，有五老游焉，相谓河图将来，高帝以期，知我者重瞳也。”
