香插形制精巧，包浆浓厚，古雅凝重。老子舒坐于牛背之上，形神兼备，逸趣横生。仙翁光额高隆，丰耳下耷，长须垂胸，表情慈眉善目。身着广衣帛带，衣褶流畅，左腿平放，右腿微屈，呈自在坐姿。怀抱竹筒，以为插香之用。 牛儿身躯壮硕，左前足抬起，作漫步状，牛尾甩向一侧，侧首伸鼻，弯角自然，向后内曲，挺拔有力，双耳伏于其后，神态温柔谦逊，恭顺臣服，形态生动，惹人喜爱。全器铜质细腻，造型比例协调，实为铸造工美之佳作。
