惠孟臣大約生活在明代天啟到清代康熙年間，荊溪人，著名壺藝名家。惠孟臣壺藝出眾，獨樹一幟，善於配製多種調砂泥。工藝手法極洗練，富節奏感，尤其是壺的流嘴，不論長或短，均剛直勁拔，有著與眾不同的鮮明特色。壺體光澤瑩潤，胎薄輕巧，線條圓轉流暢，成為孟臣壺突出的風格特征。“孟臣壺”傳器款識有書“文杏館孟臣製”、“荊溪惠孟臣製”、“惠孟臣製”、“孟臣製”。
