Condition: overall very good, image itself fine; slightly light struck in an oval shape from prior matting; composed on colored wove paper with deckle edges four sides; reinforced with stiff paper; minor rippling; marginal repaired tear and small paper loss lower left; small paper loss upper left corner. Comment(s): Ufer traveled to Taos, New Mexico, in 1914, became one of the "Taos Ten", and associated with the Taos Society of Artists. His most notable works focus on scenes of Native American life, particularly of the Pueblo Indians, and portraits of Taos Indians. In the 1920s Ufer's work garnered critical and commercial success. He exhibited at the Carnegie International and became an Academician of the National Academy of Design. His work is included in the collections of the Art Institute of Chicago, the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, and the New Mexico Museum of Art. [29280-5-16000]
