Artist: Edward Weston (American, 1886 - 1958). Title: "Epilogue". Medium: Original vintage photolithograph. Date: Composed 1919. Printed 1920. Dimensions: Image size: 11 1/4 x 8 3/4 in. (286 x 222 mm). Lot Note(s): Stamped with the photographer's name, verso. Edition unknown, presumed small. High-grade archival paper. Printed to the edge of the sheet. Fine, quality printing. Very good to fine condition; affixed to very thin and supple archival acid-free support sheet, not mount/board. Literature/catalogue raisonne: GNC95. Comment(s): This image was solely printed as a platinum print and is extremely rare. Christie’s noted in 1994 that only four prints of this image were extant, with only one in private hands. An example of this work, presumably the print referenced by Christie’s, sold for $216,000 at Sotheby’s New York, 10/10/2005, lot #9. The vintage photolithograph is also rare, with only one sale located. Image copyright © The Center for Creative Photography, Arizona Board of Regents. [30314-2-1200]
