A Chinese hardwood altar table 硬木画案 19th/20th century 十九或二十世纪 Possibily huanghuali and huamu, the rectangular top is set within the rectangular frame with scrolled ends above angular scroll apron, all raised on straight legs with slightly flared feet, the sides inset with humpback stretchers. (H: 37 1/4 in. L: 46 1/2 in. D: 16 in.) Qty: (1) Property formerly in the collection of Harry J. Haon II (1901-1989), thence by descent Haon was employed by E.I. du Pont de Nemours & Company, and was promoted in 1954 to the Foreign Relations Department as Manager of the European Office, London, England, until his retirement in 1962. Mr. Haon continued to live part-time in London into the late 1970s. It is believed that many of the Asian arts in his collection were acquired during this time in London. Condition report: Cracks to inset top panel, scattered scratches and minor abrasions, a few scattered water spots and rings, moderate surface soiling, otherwise overall very good sturdy condition.
