A group of four small stucco heads 石灰岩佛首一组四件 Gandhara, 4rd-5th Century 犍陀罗 四至五世纪 The two larger ones, a head of the Buddha and a bodhisattva with diadem, modeled in a serene expression, with a bow-shaped mouth and almond-shaped eyes beneath arched eyebrows, one smaller example modeled with thick moustache, the last with open mouth, curling hair and diadem; modern wood stands. (H: 6 1/2 in. (largest, without stand)) Property from the Collection of Dr. and Mrs. Giraud V. and Carolyn Foster, gift from a Director of Antiquities, Afghanistan, 1970.
