Early Qing Modelled in the form of a stylised pipa, comprising the body and cover hinged together near the smaller end with a bronze pin cast with a floral knob, the body with recessed sections to the interior, housing a baitong and bone steelyard, the weight incised with landscape and colophons, characters on one side reading Bingshennian chuxiayue yu juyunzhai zhuren shuwei (The owner of Junyun Zhai inscribed in early summer of the year of Bingshen) and two seals reading zhongxuan, the other side inscribed a poem and inscriptions reading Bingshen xiayue shuwei Hu Ruqing zuo (Wrote this for Hu Ruqing in the summer of the year of Bingshen), the wood of dark brown tone with characteristic veins. 40.5cm (15 3/4in) long.
