A late 19th century Anglo-Indian unmarked silver tea caddy, Kashmir circa 1880 Raj period, of inverted baluster form upon a circular foot. Lobed sections to the base and lower half, the body with chased decoration in mosaic pattern. The pull off cap with chased floral forms in vignettes. The neck ring gilt. Height – 10.4 cm / 4.15 inches Weight – 147 grams / 4.73 ozt The form of this tea caddy is based upon early 18th century English examples, these forms were revived in the latter half of the 19th century. The pull cap acts as the caddy spoon by being used as the measure of the tea.
