A 19th century Sumatran (Indonesian) unmarked silver betel or tobacco box (chelpa), possibly Aceh circa 1850-1900 Of compressed circular form with a chiselled edge, below a repeating curved motif band. The domed lid with a push action central rosette centring a band of rings, the hinge with chased leafy mounts. A faceted loop attachment. Diameter – 6.7 cm / 2.6 inches Weight – 90 grams / 2.89 ozt
