A late 19th century Armenian unmarked silver and niello Quran box / case (Ta'wiz/Muska), Van circa 1880 Of rectangular form with rounded corners, a sliding top, two suspension lips. One side with a nielloed oval cartouche with the Ottoman Turkish coat of arms below a Tughra, reserved with foliate sprays, the obverse with a scene of a mosque reserved with arabesques and rosettes. The edges with nielloed herringbone pattern. Length – 8.1 cm / 3.4 inches Weight – 59 grams / 1.9 ozt
