A pair of mid-18th century Italian silver salts, Turin circa 1770 by Giuliano Gabriel Marcello (active 1760-1793) Each of shaped oval form upon four out swept scroll legs with cast foliate apron between. Gilt interiors. Each engraved with initials underneath DS in Roman script. Each marked with assayer mark of Carlo Micha (active 1759-1787) Torino town mark of a shield with a cross between makers initials CM, one with contrassaggiatore mark for Carlo Micha (CM in a dotted oval) to underside and once to a foot of, the other with a partially obscured makers mark of a cross bottony with wreath and GG.
