A pair of George III sterling silver salts, London 1790 by Peter and Jonathon Bateman (reg. 7th Dec 1790) each of compressed circular form with gadrooned rim upon three pad feet with shell junction knees. Each fully marked underneath. Diameter – 7 cm / 2.75 inches Weight – 128 grams / 4.12 ozt Jonathon Bateman died 19th April 1791, thus ending this partnership and the use of this mark on 2nd May 1791 when Peter registered a new mark with his sister Ann. Thus, the mark of Peter and Jonathon was only used for the comparatively short period of 147 days or 4 months 26 days.
