Saints Cosme and Damián" in carved, polychrome and gilded wood, Germany 16th century. Both brothers, famous for practicing medicine disinterestedly and professing the Christian religion, were tortured and executed by Diocletian. They are represented with medical books and tools to prepare the remedies, as in this case, one with a small mortar and the other with a kind of ampoule. Height: 18 cms.
