A Russian icon, 19th Century, depicting St. George slaying the dragon with a lance, with another saint on horseback, against a city backdrop with on-looking spectators, while two angels fly down to bestow crowns upon the saints, set within an ochre painted border bearing old church Slavonic script, the panel 31.5cm x 26cmThe painted surface bears patches of restoration and possible nail marks where an oklad may have rested on top. The outer border is heavily worn with cracks and large losses especially to the bottom edge. The verso bears two openings for slat supports.
