笔筒胎体坚实，尺寸得宜，外壁施乌金釉，釉面光亮滋润，为康熙时期典型的文房用品。乌金釉为康熙时期创烧的高温单色釉新品种，根据故宫博物院研究指出，因釉料主要取自景德镇附近所产的乌金土而得名。雍正时唐英在《陶成纪事碑》中亦提到“新制仿乌金釉”，惟存世的康熙、雍正两朝乌金釉品种并不多见。品相保存良好。
