A RARE FIDLE 'SAW DUANG' AND THE WHORL HEAD OF A SIMILAR INSTRUMENT Thailand, 19th or early 20th ct. L. ca. 120 cm With two whorls for silk strings, matching bow with remains of the former stringing. Carved ivory, body covered. Estate of Dr. Otto Schwend (1892 -1951), collected in Thailand between 1926 and 1938 and since then continuously in family possession, collector's card M 1 preserved. For a similar instrument from the first part of the Otto Schwend collection sold in sale 347, Van Ham Cologne, Dec. 4, 2014, lot no. 42.
