Japan,17th- early 18th century, Momoyama (1573-1615) to early Edo period (1615-1868)Of lobed rectangular form, the roiro ground decorated in brown, silver, and gold hiramaki-e, gold takamaki-e, and kinpun with a dense scrolling floral design. The interiors and underside with nashiji, the interiors further with gold fundame edges, the cover also with a gold fundame border to the rim.SIZE 11.8 x 9 x 8.8 cmCondition: Good condition with old wear, minor chips to edges, few small natural age cracks.Provenance: Ex-collection Claudio Perino, a collector with a keen interest in Japanese, Chinese and Far Eastern cultures. His collection consists of over 2000 works of art, partly loaned to the Museum of Oriental Arts (MAO) in Turin, Italy and to the Museo delle Culture (MUSEC) in Lugano, Switzerland. An exhibition of Kakemono scroll paintings was on view in the MUSEC until end of April 2021.
