天字罐创于明成化年间，由景德镇御窑厂生产。形制均为直口、短颈、丰肩圆腹，浅圈足，造型秀巧，胎体轻薄；外壁多以斗彩装饰，常见海水云龙纹、海兽纹、海马纹、缠枝莲纹、夔龙纹、缠枝瓜纹等；因底部有青花「天」字楷书款而得名，堪称一代绝品。拍品直口、丰肩、鼓腹，典型的明成化天字罐造型，通体用淡描青花绘饰海马踏浪图，海马形态各异，或回首而望，或腾空飞翔。青花发色淡雅，颇具特色。底部有青花双圈「天」字款。肩部有冲线，瑕不掩瑜，实为难得。
