Harvey Joiner (American, 1852-1932), Sunlit Beechesoil on canvas, signed at lower right, presented in a gilt frame with gallery plaque within an ebonized shadowbox frame.Sight size 5 1/2 x 12 1/2 in. (approximate); Frame dimensions 11 3/4 x 19 3/4 in.Harvey Joiner was born in Charlestown, Indiana, just northeast of Louisville, Kentucky. He began his career as a portrait painter. However, he garnered great acclaim during his lifetime for his luminous landscapes. Often of a diminutive size, his serene and dreamlike depictions of the Kentucky beech forests were sought after by collectors across the country.
