Painted with a hare pounding mochi and standing on clouds in finely drawn black lacquer lines. Inscription reading: gyonen nanajunana so (old man at the age of 77 years) Zeshin. The base lacquered black. Small silver lacquer repairs to the rim evoking mochi-sprinkles. Wooden box with a long inscription dated Showa 1957, at the side an old paper label reading: Zeshin urushi-e shu bon.
