天王俑源于佛教的护法神，多置于寺院门前或佛前，佛教传入中原后逐步汉化，护法神的形象也逐渐演化为武士形象，被赋予了驱鬼辟邪的功用，标志着神人同形观念的确立。武士双眉紧蹙，双眼圆睁，八字胡须。一手持长斧。身着长袍，腰下垂膝裙，下缚吊腿，双足蹬长靴，下接高台座。通体饰四彩，以绿、黑、白、红色为主，釉色鲜艳明亮，自然流淌，凸显其威武勇猛之形象。拍品形体硕大，保存不易，尤值珍之。
