signed CHENXU, inscribed, and with one seal of the artist dated Jiashen year（1944） ink and color on paper, hanging scroll Chen Xu (1902-1967),from Meizhou,Guangdong Province,is a famous figure painter in modern times.In 1917,he studied landscape,animals and figure painting from Jin Beilou.He joined the Chinese Painting Research Association in 1923.His paintings were exhibited many times in Japan,Europe and America,and won a gold medal at the International Expo held in Belgium.
