A HONGSHAN STYLE JADE CARVING
China, probably Qing Dynasty (1644-1912). The jade is carved as a stylized mythical animal, with incised mouth below rounded ears, pierced with a circular aperture to the center. The fine translucent stone is of rich green hues with ochre shadings and few black speckles.
Condition: Very good condition with minimal signs of weathering and erosion, a fine naturally grown patina.
Provenance: Ex-Collection of The Zelnik István Southeast Asian Gold Museum. Institutional art collection in Belgium, acquired from the above.
