A MINIATURE ‘DRAGON’ PORCELAIN PLAQUE China, Republic period (1912-1949), dated 1940. The plaque of rectangular form, finely painted in iron red with a dragon emerging from a turbulent sea to chase the flaming pearl, with calligraphy ‘A ferocious dragon chasing the flaming pearl. In the winter of Gengchen year 1940’ and two seals ‘Zhi’ and ‘Yu’ to the upper left. Set within a wood frame.

Condition: Excellent condition with only minor wear and firing irregularities.
