A DRUM SHAPE BLACK LACQUER BOX
China, Qing Dynasty (1644-1912). The composite lacquer box with inlays of mother-of-pearl depicting birds perched on blossoming branches. On the side ruyi clouds, bats and Buddhist symbols in polychrome lacquer inlays, above a band of incised ruyi clouds.
Provenance: Hungarian private collection, according to the current owner acquired in 2000 from a German collector.
Condition: Overall still good condition. The box with some cracks, small losses, and chips to the lacquer.
