A HANGING SCROLL PAINTING OF JO AND UBA
Japan, first half of the 20th century
Painted in ink and color on silk, with a silk brocade frame, mounted as a hanging scroll, and the jiku (roller ends) carved from bone. Depicted is an image of Jo and Uba underneath a pine tree, holding their rake and broom, with a red-crowned crane next to Uba, and the red rising sun in the background. Signature/inscription and seals in the lower right corner.

Condition: Overall the painting presents very well with minor wear and a little creasing to the painting. The mounting with minor wear and soiling.
