A SUKHOTAI STYLE BRONZE HEAD OF A BUDDHA
Thailand, 19th century or earlier. Surmounted by a flaming ushnisha atop tight hair curls, the face with aristocratic features, downcast eyes below eyebrows that run into the nose bridge, smiling lips, flanked by elongated earlobes.
Condition: Good condition with a loss on the neck, traces of wear and age, such as nicks, dents, and encrustations.
Provenance: From a British private collection. The underside of the base shows a label with collector’s remark and dating to c. 1350.
