AN APPEALING JAVANESE KRIS Indonesia, Java, late 19^th century to early 20^th century. The long and wavy iron gandar (blade) with its protruding thorn-shaped ganja. Set with a metal Mendak studded with glass stones and a high-polished elaborated wood Patra (handle). The wood warangka and the beautiful gilt and black lacquered metal pendok (sheath), depicting a finely incised floral pattern.
Condition: Good condition with usual traces of age, wear to the lacquer and some missing glass stones. Provenance: Dutch private collection.
