A VIETNAMESE LACQUERED WOOD FIGURE OF GUANYIN Vietnam, 19^th century. The deity of mercy carved seated in lalitasana on a lotus throne, the left hand resting on her knee and the other hand holding an outsized jewel. The deity is dressed in elongated flowing robes, wearing a peaceful facial expression with heavy-lidded almond-shaped eyes, the hair arranged in a coiffure underneath the cowl.

Condition: Worn condition, commensurate with age, cracks, losses, damages to the lacquer, and a repair with a touch-up to the backside.
