Japan, Meiji period (1868-1912)

Carved as two dancers on an oval base, one holding a drum and the other a fan, himotoshi and signature to the underside. The second an animated carved study depicting three characters playing the kubihiki game, the underside shows many feet and is carved with a hammer.

Condition: Very good condition with minor wear and few age cracks, one foot chipped.
