Emperor Khai Dinh's Imperial Famille Jaune Enameled Porcelain Five Wishes Set W/Kangxi Mark (From a Vietnamese Royal Family) - This famille jaune enameled porcelain "Five Wishes" setprises a censer, pair of Gu form vases, and a pair of candle holders. Each piece is decorated with apicio "Tho" (longevity) characters, bats, fu lion, double coins and peach blossoms, the most apicio fruit in Vietnamese culture, having a long tradition as an omen of longevity and harbinger of happiness believed to ward off evil. This five piece set symbolizes the Five Wishes: wealth, health, love of virtue, longevity, and peaceful death. Each piece bears the Kangxi period archaic seal mark in underglazed red. This piecees from the estate of a Vietnamese Royal Family (the family now lives in the United States, and wishes to remain private as they still have relatives living in Vietnam). According to our seller, this piece was kept in the personal collection of the 12th Nguyen Emperor Khai Dinh. Measurements: censer-19"H x 15"W, vase-15"H x 4"W, candle holder-15"H x 6"W.
