提要：是书卷首复侬氏自序曰“庚子三月，襥被作宣南游，尘装甫卸…坐席未暖…遽遘民教相仇之祸，星星燎原，涓涓成河…自风鹤初警，便尔门息交，咫尺河山，益无聊赖，与友人杞庐氏日以小诗自娱，就所闻见，辄复分咏，积一月之久，得绝句百首，略加诠次，邮寄南中，俾故乡人士，得悉危城近况。”所录皆为庚子拳祸亲历，如大栅栏、前门箭楼被焚，东交民巷攻守战事等，皆为研究义和团运动一手资料。序末有朱笔批注知此书真实作者为夏曰琦所著。
