Hoe shrine/Shinto shrine, Japan, late 19th century (Meiji), wooden body with black lacquer and gold. Partially decorated with gold and with matching curved and ornamented brass fittings. The lower part with sliding door, one drawer and a pull-out base. Double fanned door, the inner semi-transparent with fine lattice fabric. Interior with carved and gilded altar. The saints absent, 105 x 47 x 35 cm.
